Madsen Amplification started as the antithesis of the throw away and replacement culture that pervades the marketplace today. Having experience as a sales engineer at Sweetwater Sound, and repairing guitar amps and pedals, allowed Maynard to see how the majority of the industry is designing amplifiers to compete at specific price points in the market. This focus on price points, along with the the profit margin being distributed between the manufacturer, distributor, retailer and its sales force often means that corners are cut, and the end product while sounding good is often not easily repairable, and often it is the goal of the manufacturer to have the customer work their way up the product line and replace their faulty amps with the next step up.

Its because of these observations, that Maynard started Madsen Amplification, with the beliefs that every amp should sound not only good, but great; on top of that, it has to be reliable.

What is an Heirloom amplifier and what sets Madsen Amplification apart from the other hand wired boutique amps out there?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary an Heirloom is defined as 1. A piece of property that descends to the heir as an inseparable part of an inheritance of real property. 2. Something of special value handed down from one generation to another. 3. a variety of plant that has originated under cultivation and that has survived for several generations usually due to the effort of private individuals.

As an outdoorsman and bush-crafter, Maynard knows that outdoor equipment has to be reliable as it could be the difference between life and death should a threatening situation arise. Its with this same mentality that Maynard hand selects and tests components for his amplifiers.

A truly exquisite amplifier is simple yet elegant, and allow you to quickly dial in a great tone so that you can focus on creating art. No matter what emotion, thought, or idea you are expressing, the amplifier should be an extension of your playing.
